Tullum DOP

Tullum DOP is the result of years of tests, studies and historical research, which have highlighted the vocation of this territory. The grapes coming from Tollo are different from others in Abruzzo, for the climatic and soil but also for the influences of local traditions and the social value assumed by viticulture, thus realizing the concept of terroir

The territory of Tollo is located in the Province of Chieti, in Abruzzo. It stands on a rounded hill at 150 meters above sea level in an area of 15 square kilometers.  These terroir gives the wines a uniqueness. This is motivated by the climate, first, influenced by the breezes coming from the sea, which is only a few kilometers away, and by the thermal excursions between day and night due to the proximity of the Majella massif on one side and the Adriatic sea on the other. Then, the soil that has diversified substrates, however not too fertile, particularly suitable for quality viticulture. The climate-soil combination means that the territory is different in the individual terrain, which is why the Tullum DOP identifies the types based on their location on the map.

There are six wines protected under the Denomination Tullum coming from the grapes of Montepulciano and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, from native Pecorino and Passerina and Chardonnay, used for spumante.
